Getaround allows car owners to list their cars for potential renting by other individuals. Renters search the listings and then book the car that they need for the length of time that is appropriate/available. Everything can be done directly from the Getaround mobile app including unlocking the car, booking a trip and even leaving a review.

Getaround requires that drivers be over the age of 19 with a clean driving record before renting a vehicle through the platform. The exception to this requirement is with specialty vehicles where the age is raised to 25.

Getaround may refund some or all of the money for a booking that is canceled depending on circumstances. Additionally, the company may give reimbursement or other compensation for bookings that do not go well for reasons outside of the control of the renter. These are decided on a case by case basis. If you, the renter, would like to cancel your Getaround booking you can do so directly from your account either on the computer or from the mobile app on your phone. There may be a fee applied for canceling and frequent cancelations may prevent you from making further bookings on the Getaround platform.

Yes, you will need to create a Getaround account before you will be able to rent a car. In addition, you must also provide your driver's license number and additional information so that the platform can clear you for rental.

There are no fees to rent a car with Getaround however there may be additional fees assessed for returning a car in an overly dirty fashion ($100 cleaning fee), for smoking in the car ($300 fine), for getting a ticket or not refilling the gas tank and other circumastances. All of this information is available in the rental agreement.
